About Climate B2C

A project enabler for the coffee belt.

Climate B2C is a 501(c)(3) consortium project founded by people who have spent careers importing specialty coffee. Our job is to make co-developed biochar projects a normal feature of mid-size coffee supply chains.

About Us.

David Griswold at a coffee mill, talking with project leads

I spent three decades importing green coffee. The communities I bought from kept telling me the same thing: yields are getting harder to hold, costs keep rising, and the climate is moving against them faster than any program can keep up. Biochar isn't a silver bullet, but in the right place, with the right partners, it pays back the farm in soil moisture, fertilizer savings, and stable yields. Climate B2C exists to make that possible at the scale of an actual coffee supply chain, not a pilot.

What we do

  • Arrange the pieces

Equipment, training, MRV, certification. We sequence them so a roaster + grower partnership doesn't have to figure out the workflow themselves.

  • Niche into coffee

We don't do timber, cement, or generic offsets. Coffee supply chains are our entire focus, pruning residues, cherry pulp, mill economics, in-setting claims.

  • Stay registry-grade

Every project we enable can be certified under CSI methodology. The science is real; the credits, if you choose to issue them, are claimable against Scope 3.

  • Open-source the playbook

Our Academy and Methodology pages are free. Even if you never run a project with us, you should be able to figure out how to start one.

What we don't do

  • We don't replace your trader

If you already buy from a major green coffee trader, we slot in beneath that relationship, not over it.

  • We don't carry CapEx

We're a 501(c)(3). The capital comes from roasters and grant partners; we structure the deal.

  • We're not a marketplace

There's no platform fee, no listing service. Climate B2C is the people, the network, and the playbook, not a piece of SaaS.

  • We don't sell offsets

Every credit we help certify is in-set against a specific coffee supply chain. We're not in the wholesale CDR business.

Three layers of trust

Climate B2C arranges. Partners deliver. CSI certifies.

Every project we enable rests on three independent layers, the on-the-ground partners, the MRV / technology stack, and the registry. That separation is what lets a QR code on a bag of coffee justify what it says. Read the methodology for the full structure.
